The Bride's Edit

It all started on June 1st, 2021...

That summer, I was randomly placed into an apartment with my now maid-of-honor, Rachel. I had previously said no to rooming with her on a roommate-matching app because she was a senior, and as an upcoming sophomore, I was intimidated by the thought of living with seniors. Clearly, fate did not care about my preferences.

Rachel insisted that I had to meet her best friends that she referred to as "the boys"—a group of boys who lived in another apartment in our complex. That same night, she and I, along with one of my best friends, Megan, went over to their apartment to meet them.

That is the night that Harrison entered my life. Cute, goofy, and competitive, he was determined to completely destroy Megan and me in beer pong (which he definitely did). Little did I know that this was the beginning of something much bigger.

Over the next few months, I found myself spending more and more time with Rachel and the boys. Even though I was only a sophomore and they were all seniors, they welcomed me in like I had always been a part of the group. Somewhere along the way, Harrison and I began to grow closer. We shared stories about ourselves and our lives, and our friendship began to develop into something more. As a girl does, I developed a crush fairly quickly. Luckily for me, he had grown to like me too and officially asked me to be his girlfriend that December.

The years that followed were full of some of our favorite memories: our first road trip together, bringing our dog Kota into our lives to be best friends with Harrison’s dog Tarman, meeting each other’s families, celebrating holidays together, and spending anniversaries together.

By 2024, we had been together for two and a half years. I had just graduated college, and we were getting ready for a trip to England to visit Harrison’s family. Harrison kept insisting we go shopping for the trip, which anyone who knows me knows is not my favorite activity. I finally learned why he was so persistent: he was planning a photoshoot for us while we were there!

Even after finding out about his photoshoot plans, I was still a nightmare to shop with (sorry, Harrison). We eventually found a dress, and then the night before our flight, we found the perfect shoes to match.

When the day of the photoshoot came, his aunt and uncle drove us to Kynance Cove (bonus points to Harrison for choosing a location where scenes from House of the Dragon had been filmed). I had no idea what was to come, as Harrison had done a fantastic job of keeping everything a secret. As we hiked toward the spot where Harrison said the photographer was waiting, I grew increasingly grumpy about hiking in heels. Harrison, patient as he always is with me, encouraged me to keep going until we reached the spot.

Then, the big moment came! Harrison came around from behind me and started his sweet speech as I realized what was happening. Then, on the perfect cliff overlooking the ocean, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes, and we heard cheers erupt from above us. A crowd had gathered on the cliff where the photographer was hiding, including his aunt and uncle who had helped him make his vision come true. We spent the rest of the day celebrating, drinking champagne, and taking in the excitement of what was to come.

Now, as we look ahead to our wedding day, we cannot wait to celebrate our love story that started with a random roommate, a competitive beer pong game, and a boy who turned out to be the absolute love of my life.

The Groom's Edit

Destiny and I had quite the first meeting. It started as a simple social gathering with friends from our apartment complex, but it quickly took a turn for the worse when a strange man began following Destiny. This wasn’t our first run-in with him — my roommate had already called the cops to report his creepy behavior toward women. The night ended with Destiny hiding safely in her apartment while my friends and I chased the guy around the complex and through the streets of Norman — until he eventually called the police on himself. It was an eventful night, to say the least.

After that, Destiny and I continued to hang out in group settings until I finally worked up the courage to ask her out on a date. Being the Marvel nerd that I am, I invited her to see the new Spider-Man movie. To my surprise, I didn’t scare her off — even after insisting on a Spider-Man movie marathon to get her caught up. Spider-Man was how our journey began, and our relationship grew like a spider’s web — branching out in every direction with memories full of adventure, laughter, Marvel movies, and chaotic road trips.

Each of those moments wove together into a vast and beautiful web of love, which eventually led to our engagement. And wow, did she make me work for it! To be fair, I made it pretty complicated — starting with the fact that it was in another country. But even through her determination to wear jeans and Crocs, and the security guards loudly announcing the “proposal photoshoot” over their radios, I somehow managed to surprise her on one knee. She said yes! We celebrated with an amazing picnic overlooking the Cornish countryside — a perfect ending to a perfect day.

We can’t wait to begin this next chapter surrounded by the people who have loved and supported us from the start.
